Hi there,

The ops job market right now is genuinely weird. Roles are opening back up, but the bar has shifted. Hiring managers want people who can show their work, not just describe it. That means your application needs to lead with outcomes, not responsibilities. Quantify whatever you can. If you touched a process, say what changed. If you supported an exec, say what they were able to do because of you.

A few things worth doing this week if you're actively looking:

  • Tailor your headline. "Chief of Staff" or "BizOps Leader" alone isn't enough. Add context: the type of org, the function, the scale. Recruiters (and AI) are scanning fast.

  • Get your story straight on AI. Expect to be asked how you use it. Have a real answer, not a generic one. Something specific to how you work or what you’ve build outside of work.

  • Apply to the weird ones. The roles without listed comp, at companies you've never heard of, in cities you didn't expect are sometimes the best fits. Don't filter yourself out before you apply and learn their stories.
