047 OpsJobs | 500 applicants. One role. Here's how to break through.

Hi there,

Happy Thursday. The BLS May jobs report drops tomorrow morning, but the signal is already clear: the market is hiring, just more selectively. CoS roles are drawing thousands of applicants in many cases. Reaching out to recruiters isn't moving the needle the way it used to. Cold applications on LinkedIn aren’t the way into the seat. The resume is rarely the bottleneck.

I shared this with a candidate recently and figured it was worth saying to the whole group: what actually breaks through right now is two things.

First, work your secondary connections to get in front of leaders who aren't hiring a CoS yet, and be the one to plant that seed.

Second, build publicly with AI. Executive teams are actively looking for operators who understand these tools and can implement them. Sharing your experiments, wins, and failures in the open is one of the fastest ways to stand out from a crowded field.

The roles below are worth your attention. Strong mix this week across CoS, BizOps, and beyond.

Tom Guthrie, Rahul Desai, and Lauren Werner shared some more ideas on the CoS Podcast: Positioning yourself as a Chief of Staff.

Ready to grow into the role?

Launchpad isn't a crash course. It's a space to slow down, go deep, and build the kind of strategic clarity that makes the CoS role feel less reactive and more yours.

Live coaching, real peers, and a curriculum shaped by thousands of Chiefs of Staff who've been exactly where you are. Next cohort starts June 23. A few spots left.
